Bunagee Pier – Pontoons

We are currently awaiting the installation of the pontoons at Bunagee Pier, which are due to be fitted by Donegal County Council. These pontoons are essential for us to operate safely and efficiently, as they provide the secure, stable access required for passengers boarding and disembarking our boat.

Once the pontoons are in place, we will be able to begin running our full schedule of trips from Bunagee.

We will share further updates as soon as installation is complete and operations can begin.

Sea Swimming

Sea swimming is now part of what we offer at True North Boating!

Cold‑water swims boost energy, improve circulation, and leave you feeling clear‑headed and alive.

If you’re comfortable in the water, come join us for a refreshing dip along the scenic, sheltered coastline of Inishowen — with buoyancy aids available if needed.

Designated Sea Swimming trips run for approximately 1.5 hours in total, with scheduling available on request. All departures are weather‑dependent and require a minimum number of passengers to operate.

Please note wetsuits and towels are not provided, and you must be a proficient swimmer for safety purposes.

Inishtrahull Island - Trips for 2026 Season

We are pleased to share our proposed weekend trip dates to Inishtrahull Island for the 2026 season. These dates are based on favourable tides, with additional summer sailings to be announced. All trips require pre‑booking, are weather‑dependent, and operate only when minimum passenger numbers are met. Early booking is recommended.

MAKO, our 11 metre Redbay Stormforce Canopy RIB, accommodates up to 12 passengers, with life jackets provided for all. Departing from Bunagee Pier, Culdaff, the crossing takes approximately 30–40 minutes each way, with over two hours on the island for self‑guided exploration.

We recommend waterproof jackets, sturdy footwear, sun protection, and bringing water, snacks, or a picnic. Cameras and binoculars are also encouraged.

Inishtrahull Island is Ireland’s most northerly island — a remarkable place rich in history. As a designated area of special conservation, no dogs are permitted, except registered service dogs. Please respect Leave No Trace principles during your visit.

If a trip needs to be rescheduled due to weather or other unforeseen factors, we will contact you promptly.
