Introducing Polaris – Our New Boat for 2026
True North Boating is proud and excited to announce the construction of Polaris, a brand new custom vessel currently being built in County Donegal. This exciting new boat will expand our range of boat tours, sea safaris and marine experiences along the spectacular Donegal coastline.
Polaris is being designed and built locally by Seabound Engineering in Greencastle, County Donegal, a company renowned for high quality marine engineering and vessel construction. Supporting local expertise and craftsmanship is an important part of this project, and we are delighted to be working with a talented team right here in the Inishowen Peninsula.
The vessel design is based on the InteCat 114-TB Island Wheelhouse, a modern and highly capable boat designed specifically for coastal operations and passenger comfort. Polaris will have a capacity for up to 12 passengers, creating an intimate and personal experience for visitors exploring the Atlantic waters of Donegal.
A New Generation Of Boat Tours In Donegal
Polaris will allow True North Boating to offer an even wider range of marine adventures and boat trips along the Wild Atlantic Way. The vessel has been carefully designed to provide a safe, stable and comfortable platform for exploring some of the most dramatic coastal locations in Ireland.
This new build will support a variety of activities including sea safari tours, trips to Inishtrahull Island, sea swimming excursions, fishing trips and private boat charters. The flexibility of the vessel means we will be able to create unique marine experiences for visitors, photographers and adventure seekers exploring the Donegal coast.
The Island Wheelhouse design offers excellent visibility for passengers while providing protection from the elements, ensuring that guests can enjoy the beauty of the Atlantic coastline in comfort. Polaris will also feature mobility-accessible design, allowing more people to experience the incredible marine environment around Donegal.
A Local Boat Built In Donegal
The laying of the keel for Polaris is planned for March 2026, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for True North Boating. Building the vessel locally with Seabound Engineering in Greencastle highlights the strength of marine skills and craftsmanship in this region.
From the early stages of design through to the final launch, this project will showcase the expertise involved in building a modern coastal passenger vessel. Polaris will be designed to operate safely and efficiently in Atlantic waters while offering an exceptional experience for visitors discovering the coastline of Donegal.
Exploring Inishtrahull Island And The Donegal Coast
One of the highlights of the new Polaris vessel will be the ability to offer unforgettable trips to Inishtrahull Island, Ireland’s most northerly island. Located off the Inishowen Peninsula, Inishtrahull is known for its dramatic scenery, historic lighthouse and incredible marine wildlife.
These journeys will give visitors the opportunity to experience the rugged beauty of the north Donegal coastline while spotting seabirds, dolphins and other marine life along the way.
In addition to island trips, Polaris will support sea safari tours, wildlife photography trips, fishing excursions and coastal exploration along the Wild Atlantic Way.
